SARANAC LAKE — Some 200 pounds of turkey will be served free of charge to anyone at the Saranac Lake Adult Center at 135 Broadway between noon and 3 p.m. today.
More than 1,000 Thanksgiving meals have been served during the eight years that the event has taken place.
About 60 percent of them are delivered by volunteer staff to people who are homebound.
The dinner, open to the public, is sponsored by the Adult Center, St. Joseph's, the Women's Civic Chamber, Renzi Food Service and North Elba Town Supervisor Roby Politi.
Served up with the turkey will be mashed potatoes and gravy, corn, squash, cranberry sauce, rolls and butter, assorted desserts, milk, coffee and iced tea.
