Watertown’s Renzi Foodservice supports nonprofits with food donations

A local business impacted by restaurant closures amid the coronavirus pandemic has found a way during the situation to benefit area nonprofits. Renzi Foodservice, which has its headquarters in the City Center Industrial Park, has been donating food to several organizations over the past few weeks. Organizations that have been supported by Renzi include: The New York State Zoo at Thompson Park; the Salvation Army of Watertown; Watertown Urban Mission; Community Action Planning of Jefferson County; and Garnsey's Feral Acres in Clayton.

Rescued animals treated to donated fresh produce from Renzi Foodservice

It was enough produce to fill a pickup truck and then some. Garnsey’s Feral Acres in the town of Clayton got the gift of more than 1,000 pounds of fruits and vegetables on Thursday. It was a gift Jeff Garnsey, who runs the animal sanctuary, says is a delight. It comes courtesy of Renzi Foodservice in Watertown. Garnsey says he appreciates the extra work it took Renzi to make the donation happen.

Renzi Foodservice has signed on as a Silver Level sponsor for the Oswego County Opportunities' "Giving Thanks" fundraiser, which will be held Friday, November 1, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Lake Ontario Convention, Event and Conference Center in Oswego.

Youth Philanthropy Council announces over $16,000 in grant funding for Jefferson, Lewis, and St. Lawrence county nonprofits

The Youth Philanthropy Council (YPC) of the Northern New York Community Foundation recently awarded more than $16,000 in grants to nine area non-profit organizations in support of specific community programs and projects. Youth Philanthropy Council is made possible through the generosity of Watertown Savings Bank, Renzi Foodservice Charitable Foundation, RBC Wealth Management, and annual donors to the Friends of the Community Foundation Community Betterment Fund.

Renzi Foodservice Gives Back to Local Communities

In its fourth year in Lake Placid, The Renzi Food Show on April 10 brought over 1,500 visitors to the greater Lake Placid community. Held at the Conference Center at Lake Placid, the show not only helped spur the local economy by generating overnight stays and Main Street foot traffic in a shoulder season, but it also provided local families and organizations with donations of food.

The Northern New York Community Foundation Youth Philanthropy Council is accepting grant requests from non-profit organizations for programs, projects or initiatives positively impacting the quality of life in Jefferson, Lewis and St. Lawrence counties. The program is made possible through the generosity of Watertown Savings Bank, the Renzi Foodservice Charitable Foundation, RBC Wealth Management, and annual gifts made to Friends of the Community Foundation Community Betterment Fund.

Hundreds of guests, volunteers celebrate Thanksgiving at Watertown Salvation Army

Along with the 200 meals delivered or taken out, social worker Lena M. Parker said that over 120 people had been served in the Salvation Army dining hall, “not including second helpings.” Guests had plenty of opportunities for second helpings thanks to the 1,500 pounds of food which had been donated by Renzi Foodservice.

Adult Center offering free Thanksgiving dinner

Some 200 pounds of turkey will be served free of charge to anyone at the Saranac Lake Adult Center at 135 Broadway between noon and 3 p.m. today. The dinner, open to the public, is sponsored by the Adult Center, St. Joseph’s, the Women’s Civic Chamber, Renzi Foodservice and North Elba Town Supervisor Roby Politi.
